SNF vs LTC??

Published

i landed my very first cna job at a skille nursing/ assisted living facility! what should i expect in this type of facility? I currently work at a LTC/rehab facility as an activities assistant. Sort of scared to begin my first cna job ever! any tips? Or advice?? And is the facility different than what i would expect if i worked at a ltc?

Make time for yourself on your breaks at work. If you don't take care of yourself it'll be difficult to take care of others. You'll get a lot of experience here and it'll look good for when you apply elsewhere.

A nursing home is normally the highest level of care for older adults outside of a hospital. If you have any difficulties while feeding a resident I suggest that you hold their hand or rub their back. It always helped me.

How are you liking it so far?

I work in a LTC facility currently and I have worked in a SNF before. I enjoy LTC better as the residents are more independent. At the same time they can be super demanding and rude. It's when I smile and act like they're the first not fourth person to shake their coffee cup at me and scream hey we need coffee over here while my hands are full with a tray of dishes.

Pretend to like all of your coworkers. :-)

Always report and document anything that happens with a resident... Just in case...

And dot leave a resident alone unless they are in bed.
