Just wondering what kinds of things you all have seen kids do to avoid what they know is coming.
I went to a 6 yr old's house a couple weeks ago to give him neulasta. He's a smart kid. This was the 3rd or 4th time he had to get it at home. I got to his house and the first thing Mom says to me is "Kel, I just found the shot in the freezer." Mom insisted that she had put it in the fridge when it came from the pharmacy. She also happened to mention that the kid recognized the box it came in.
Though he denied it, what happened was pretty clear. He knew he was going to get a shot and figured that if he hid it, I wouldn't be able to give it to him. Unbeknownst to him, neulasta doesn't freeze and it was still safe to give but I give him an A for effort and creativity.

When my child was about 4 she needed to take a chewable antibiotic. I'm sure it tasted horrible but she had refused to take the liquid form and was spitting it back out (she has sensory issues). I thought she was taking the tablets. Then about 3 days after she started taking it I was cleaning the kids' bathroom and pulled up the bath mat. Stuck underneath was a neat little row of antibiotic tablets. I had to take her back in to the pediatrician and he explained that she needed to take it or else she would have to get injections instead. She took it after that but I had to do oral checks to make sure.
