Should I wait?

I got the job of my dreams at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta back in March. I graduated in May. Failed the NCLEX on my first try in June. I just passed it on my 2nd try. The recruitment team at CHOA contacted me asking when I take the nclex again 2 days prior to my second attempt. As soon as I knew I passed I emailed them, but have not heard anything back yet. This was this past Thursday. Do you think I still have the job? Am I being too impatient? Or should I give up and just start job searching again? I know communication with them has always been slow, but it makes me so nervous! I am afraid I'm wasting all this time waiting on them and I'd like to know if I need to be seeking other opportunities. What would you do?

Besides just emailing them, have you tried maybe calling also. Not saying you should harass them:woot:;) lol, but explore all methods of contact to ensure they are aware of your new status. Even going in person.

As far as giving up? No way! Not this soon anyways. Big places like this can take up to a month to get back to prospective employees. I know Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Ohio replies within this time frame. But it doesn't hurt to put in applications to other places in the meantime. This way, if it doesn't pan out, you have other employment lined up.

Never give up on your dream job. But don't be discouraged if it doesn't work out right away either. Companies can not simply center their employment needs around an individuals strong desire to offer their services. No matter how passionate or qualified they may be. Time is money ya know. In fact, in my own experience, I ended up not getting the job I wanted fresh out of school, and then 8 months later they contacted me! In the meantime, I worked for a home health agency. This gave me what I felt like was a little more wiggle room. If I found a better job, I would not be knit so tightly into the work dynamic and not be inconveniencing the employer so much. I could just give my notice when it came time, and they could easily replace me.

I do SINCERELY hope you do get this job. But just know that you should always have a plan B. Anything can happen! Good luck!

Thank you! I should have said that I have also called and left a message! They've also kind of tossed me between 2 different recruiters, so I went ahead and let both of them know. Thank you so much for such a thorough reply. I am trying really hard to be patient, but I have also been out of the hospital for a couple months so I am eager to get started! I will definitely try to wait it out a little bit longer and start casually browsing for other positions just in case. Thank you!
