Should I quit??

After 3 years, I have finally decided to go back to school. I am working a full-time job, a part-time job and I am taking Anatomy and Physiology 12 week intensive summer course. The first exam, I got a B and last night we took the second exam and I think I plunked the exam, which was pretty much a guessing game. I really need to quit my part-time job as a server, but I really make good money there, it's a five star restaurant and I make $500 just by working 3 shifts (5-6 hours per shift) a week. Moreover, my full-time job isn't demanding or stressful and pays well. I really need the money from both jobs, b/c I am in debt. But, I cannot work two jobs forever so; it's imperative that I stay in school and further my education and make more money. The problem is that, I am just so tired from working two jobs, that when I try to give 100% studying, it's impossible I am too tired; I find it hard to concentrate and comprehend.

Hey Victoria703,

I Know the money being a server is easy and hard to give up.. I worked as a server through nursing school myself a single mom w/ 2 kids, school became very demanding and I had to give up a lot, I slowly gave up shifts and I guess just got used to what I had, eventually found something in the Nursing field which gave me experience in Nursing ( actually got the job beacause I knew the family from coming into the retaurant!) . So maybe cut back your shifts a little at a time you will get used to it.

Oh, I am still working for the family, now as a nurse w/homecare, I work part time at a hospital and well, I still cant give up my weekends at the restaurant, my boss works around my schedule! The money is too easy and besides my friends all work there and its like a night out for me.

Good Luck, school needs your attention, believe me, the money will come back to you!! You need time to study..

I would recommend cutting back, not quitting outright, your jobs. I also recommend you actively seek out methods to improve your study time so you are the most efficient student that you can be. I found that using a recorder during class was really beneficial. I worked several jobs and might nod off or go into the ozone while in class. My recorder would catch the lecture. The time I spent going over the recorded lectures and improving my notes was well-spent study time. You may find other study tips/tricks that are good for you. Good luck.
