Should I or should I not apply?

To get into the nursing program at my community college, you have to take a pre-req computer class (pass/fail-only 2 Saturdays!). I registered for the class this summer, but the class was cancelled due to low enrollment.

So I registered to take it again in the fall on Sept 20 and 27. Here's the problem: The last day to turn in your nursing application for Spring 2009 is Sept. 12.

Should I apply to the program anyway just to see what happens even though it's likely I won't be accepted?

OR

Should I not waste my time and just reapply in January for Fall 2009?

Oh defiantly apply. How much of your time does it take to fill out an application & complete an essay if necessary, not much! I applied to so many different nursing programs even though I didn't think I would get accepted or that I didn't meet the requirements. The nursing program I got accepted into stated (on the website) certain prerequsite courses and that I needed organic chemistry to take my 1st nursing class. I applied anyway. I got my acceptance letter and it stated that now the requirements changed starting this year that you can take organic chem concurrently with 1st nursing class. Go for it!!:yeah:

I would say, go ahead and apply. The worst thing they can tell you is no! I applied, they told me I didn't get in and then two days later they said that I did!

You can also explain to them why the course was not complete.

Thanks guys! :) I'm just going to go for it and see what happens! If I don't get accepted, I can try again in January for Fall 2009. :typing

I would definitely make a note that the previous class was canceled. Seems cruel to hold that against you- they should be able to look in the records to see that you registered for it.

Also check if there might be a comparable class at another college that you could take.

I would certainly apply and see what happens. Good luck.

All I can say is go for it! :anpom:

You might also see if you can test out of this class. I also had a basic computer skills class as a pre-req but I tested out? Maybe call the testing center at your school.

Good luck! :yeah:

Yes!!! Apply! The worst they can tell you is to apply again in January. So many nursing programs in my area are adding a computer proficiency class to the nursing program application. Hope all goes well.

When the advisor told me that I had to take a computer class, I thought he was trying to be funny. I mean, gee, I've paid $91 for a pass/fail computer class that's only 2 Saturdays. But that's the plan, apply in late Aug/early Sept and try again in January.:typing

I would apply still. You then have significant motivation to pass the class!

Hey, mochabean..let us all know the outcome with the application process! Good luck! :coollook:
