Hello, I am so dissappointed and depress right now. I took my nclex-rn last week and failed for the second time. The first exam was last Dec and just self study. I used Saunders, Kaplan, Exam Cram, and Frye's 3300 Nursing Bullet, and computer shuts off on 75 questions. The second time I used review center for three weeks, Hurst review. I even took part time hours at work , went to the library 4 times a week and studied for 5 hours. I was confident and felt good about the exam. I checked my results on PVU quick result and knew already that I was failed. Now it has been a week after my exam and planning to submit my retake application but I am thinking to switch to LPN. I need help because I am 57 years old turning 58 next month and I feel that its not worth trying to get the license since am old and right now they are hiring young people. Is there anything I need to use in terms of materials to read or just keep what I have right now. thank you and really appreciate any opinion and suggestion.

Have you taken a review course?

Yes, i like what MJB2010 wrote, and i'd also recommend taking a pre-NCLEX review course. there are many kinds out there, online, and some in classrooms, whatever works for you.

Some ppl do not test well, especially if they are stressed out. If this is you, (?) it might be worth finding out ways to reduce your stress so that you can think more clearly to test well, too. Not sure, but, perhaps even a counselor who specializes in helping ppl relax to focus better for tests could advise you on some tips. Maybe your school guidance office could direct you to any in your area? Or maybe if you google "how to relax to test well" or "how to relax to focus for taking tests" or similar searches might help you find tips to consider.

but yeah, invest in a very reputable NCLEX exam pre-test course, to help you learn where your weak areas are, help you master those types of questions, help you become proficient in test taking.

(also, i could be wrong, but, i'm not entirely certain that graduating RN school qualifies one for an LPN board, but, i do not know).

Yes I took Nclex review for three weeks. Does it really help because out of 75 questions I encountered on my last exam there's only 3 or 4 similar topic. Where should I look for counselor who specialized in relaxation? day before my exam I had a good massage and went out to see movie with my girlfriends.

Hey did u reapply for nclex?

Sorry to hear about your disappointment but don't give up. There are so many opportunities that u can do with your RN degree. I wish you luck and pray the third time is the charm.
