Short notice

I accepted a position on a unit med surg and the floor is just not for me. it was my mistake but mostly because I never shadowed the unit due to covid. I was offered an ICU job with a very large company versus the current smaller one.  ICU has been a dream goal for a long time of mine. I never been one to job hope but after 1 month this unit is just not for me. how can I explain that and email my boss letting her know my 2 weeks.  has anyone else has a situation like this during covid? how did you handle it. I really cannot turn down a chance to get an ICU position.  not too mention the ICU position has better pay, better hours, less weekend demands and works with my school schedule better.

Just do it.  But do it in person.  And let her know you have an opportunity you can't refuse.   As long as you give your two weeks, you have fulfilled your obligation.    People come and go all the time, once you are gone, your boss will not give you  a second thought.

Have your letter ready and just tell her.  You are doing the right thing for yourself.  Nurses always feel guilty when they do something for themselves.  Don't look back.  I wish you great peace and confidence in your new position.
