Shingles second bout

  • Experts

:down:This morning I woke up with the top of my head feeling like it would explode. Then I remembered that's just how it started with my first shingles about 3-4 years ago. I was actually at the dentist when he said "you have blisters at your hairline. I'm pretty sure it's shingles." Called the doc but he want's to see for himself.

So far the pain isn't near what it was last time. Anybody else know how the recurrence feels? Believe me this isn't seeking medical advice since I know all about the **** thing.

My second out break was just about the same of burning extreme pain. I hope yours is less! I got some relief with ice packs. Did you ever try them?

I plan to ask my doctor for the shingles immunization at my next physical. My dad had a very painful bout of shingles several years ago and I would very much like to avoid that all together thank you.

Well the first time I'd rather have had a kidney stone or another baby if you can picture a plus 10 pain score. Ice helps. Narcotics don't. I have Gabapentin and Amitriptyline which are helping. I'm also on a gram of Valtrex tid. It's so much fun........

same thing every time: a bit of tingling on the side of my nose, then a lot of tingling on the side of my nose and the nerve going toward my ear starts to "squirm". i look at my nose and it's red. so i start the valtrex immediately. ultram works better than percocet, but it's a miserable few days.

at least, that's how it's worked for the first 8 bouts!
