Shadowing

I live near Boston Mass and I am a highschool senior. I think I want to be a nurse but my mom is convinsed I dont want to. she used to be and hated it and thinks i will to. Are there any nurses who would be willing to allow me to shadow them?

Call around to your local hospitals. I don't know for sure, but I think you would talk to the HR dept. They should be able to give you more info on shadowing one of their nurses. Most of the hospitals around here (not in Boston by the way) have programs especially for HS seniors. Good luck and have fun!

ps. Just because your mom didn't like it, doesn't mean you won't like it. Follow your heart and keep your options open!

Do you have a pre-nursing programme in the US? I done mine in 1990, I took a few years out to do another degree after that, but it made my mind up it was for me... maybe working as a CNA I thnk you call them, we call them HCA's would help.
