Hello Everyone!
I am currently a pre-nursing student and was wondering if any opportunities exist to shadow a nurse for a day to get an idea of what the job entails. I understand that just one day won't necessarily address the scope of what a nurse actually does, but I really would like to see first hand what a career in nursing would look like day-to-day. I have a feeling that because of privacy rules like HIPAA; that this may not even be a possibility, but any info, ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I was able to shadow at UMC in Tucson while I was taking my prereqs, but that was several years ago, and I don't know if the rules have changed. Each hospital has a recruiter office that you should be able to contact to see if it's a possibility. Or if you know someone who is a nurse, that might be an in. Good luck! I think it's a great idea to see what it's all about before committing so much time and money to it.
Thank you Guinevere39, that was really helpful :)
