Your best bet is to contact a nurse recruiter at a hospital and ask them about the opportunity to shadow a nurse.

Good luck!

With all the HIPPA regulations, that may prove to be difficult. You may contact the nursing administration office at your nearest hospital to see if they may give you some direction. Good luck!

Check with the HR dept of hospitals & clinics. While I was on break between terms I shadowed at a family practice clinic, on a cardiac floor, & a nephrologist's office. Now that I'm looking for jobs I interviewed for a position in dialysis but had no knowledge of what they do so I shadowed there too. Most places are pretty open to shadowing.

Depending on where you go, there probably are a few requirements. HIPAA concerns usualy require you to sign a confidentiality agreement & I also had to have proof of all my vaccinations being up to date.

I personally feel it's a good idea & the staff at the places I went admired my iniative.
