Hey everybody! I've just graduated from my FNP program (yay!!) but now I need to schedule my AANP certification exam...I have sent my application in, but I was wondering how soon do you all recommend that I schedule my exam? Some classmates took it days after graduation, other are waiting about one month or so. I have heard from various people that you do not want to wait too long after graduation to take the exam. I have also heard that one should devote approx 3-4 weeks of hardcore studying. What do you guys recommend?
I'm sitting here nervous as I don't know what about this exam!! I've got the Hollier CDs and Fitzgerald certification prep book, but I feel like I need other things to study as well.

I personally got my clearance to test and scheduled my exam for 3 weeks later and told myself I would study hard in that time. I will tell you that at about the two week mark I was wishing I had scheduled my test for then. I felt ready and was burnt out from studying. That last week I dint feel did anything for me. Good luck whatever you decide
Okay, thanks! I'll keep that in mind!

It seemed to take forever for the ANCC to get my paperwork all cleared and my exam window dates to me. By that time I had taken a prep course in July (the last week) and have my work schedule already filled so I signed up for a date in the end of September with hopes to get some studying in before then. Of course they changed the test and on August first so that the questions that were sure to be included in the test when taking the prep course in July are no longer a sure thing. I hope I pass as well. Good luck to you, just pick a day that works in your schedule that feels right....
