Hello, has anyone ever had success, or heard of someone having success registering with the NMC with an accelerated or second degree BSN? I've been reading the NMC website and searching through threads for a definitive answer, but haven't found one. I seem to have the required hours, but am concerned my application will be rejected merely for the length of my program. Any advice appreciated! Thank you in advance.

You likely will be rejected for insufficient clinical hours. Generally distance education and accelerated programs are not accepted by NMC as meeting UK standards
Thank you so much for the reply. I actually DO have sufficient clinical hours, but my program was only 18 months. I have emailed the NMC to try and get an answer. I have read that there is the possibility that even with sufficient clinical hours the fact that my program was compressed will preclude me from registration. I was hoping that since my clinical hours were sufficient they might consider my application. My program was compressed because we did not take summer breaks, our hours were long, and I received credit for previous study with my previous degree. i guess I just have to wait and see. Again, thank you for your reply.
If anyone has any additional info, I welcome it.
Last I saw it was nearly 2000hrs and no ABSN program comes close in the U.S. Look for posts from BabyRN she did a traditional BSN had family ties to UK and barely met requirements.

Really only the NMC can make their decision based on what you submit however it does say in the handbook. It used to mention threory hours but don't appear to mention that now.
The programme should be three years in length (or equivalent) and contain a minimumof 500 hours of clinical practice which must be evidenced by a transcript of trainingfrom the applicant's higher education institution.

Just to mention the UK training doesn't have breaks like Summer or Winter breaks, they generally work through with maybe a few weeks break every so often. So the course is generally 3 years Full time
Thank you both for your replies. I think I need to clarify (or perhaps I'm belaboring?l that it was the upper division portion of my degree that was accelerated, meaning the final 2 years of a standard 4 year degree. It's possible my didactic/theoretical hours may be lacking, I guess it depends on what classes they give me credit for. While I have 840 clinical hours, I only have about 550 theoretical hours in the upper division. There were some nursing courses required prior to acceptance into the upper division, perhaps those will be considered.
Again, I appreciate you taking time to answer.
