Hi Everyone!
My name is MEG, I am a 32 year old about to earn a BA in Transportation and Logistics Management from American Military University online. I also have an associate's degree in accounting. I live in Kentucky and frankly, the opportunities for a woman with my qualifications usually amounts to being an office manager at a trucking company. I actually have worked as a truck driver in the past and would more than likely make more money driving a truck for that same company.
Anyway, I was looking for online or hybrid vocational training programs and I came across the Accelerated Second Degree BSN at Xavier in Cincinnati. I have wanted to become a nurse for years but life circumstances kept derailing every plan that I made. I tried to enroll in nursing school at a community college after I divorced my ex-husband in 2012 but I needed to earn an income fast so I enrolled in trucking school instead. I later married a guy in the Air Force and he gave me his GI Bill. I tried to go to nursing school then but the military decided to send us to Korea on short notice literally a month after he transferred his GI Bill to me. I ended up going to college online for the last four years and earning two college degrees in the business disciplines because I found them to be really easy.
My husband just retired from the Air Force and we are now living in Kentucky.
Has anyone done one of these programs? I have looked at Xavier's admissions requirements and they are a piece of cake. From what I understand all I need is a 3.0 undergrad GPA in a non-nursing bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college and pass four prerequisites. I have a 3.98 right now with six classes left until I complete my degree.
It appeals to me not only because Xavier is only about a 2 hour drive from where I live but because the coursework is done online. I am a whiz at online college and I tend to thrive really well in online coursework.
What are the pros and cons of doing a second degree accelerated BSN in the hybrid environment?

University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University, Northern Kentucky University, Bellarmine University, and Spalding University all have ABSN programs.
Any of the state schools would be a lot cheaper than a private university.
