Scripting

There have been several threads on AN about scripting, which is something that has so far passed my hospital by. I was reminded of this a couple of days ago, when I rang my former internet provider to contest the bill and (for the third time since August) cancel the service.

After a fifteen minute conversation where I explained that I wasn't going to pay the trumped up overusage fee that had been waived when I contested it the previous month, the service charge when I cancelled the service two months earlier, and the late fee for now paying the waived overusage fee, my service was cancelled and the bill cleared.

The service person asked me to stay on the line to answer a few questions about her performance. The last thing she said, after my cancellation of the service, confirmation I had no other products with them, and my mention that this was why I wouldn't be using them in future, was quite clearly scripted: "thank you for being a loyal Telstra customer. We appreciate your chosing Telstra."

So it's not just nurses compelled to sound like context-oblivious idiots! As I pointed out in my post-service interview

Don't ya just wish sometimes that there was a little fist with a boxing glove that would launch out of the phone, and send it flying upside the head of the person on the other end of the line? Maybe push #6, and the other line would whack the customer "service" personnel? You'd just hear a "thwack" and a muted "Oooooooooooo" Click.

No permanent damage....not any real pain. Just a whack up call...

:D
