School nursing in fl

Has anyone been a school nurse in fl ?

Featured Replies

I have not, but would love to. These jobs seem really hard to come by. I'm in Central Florida (Orange County) and haven't really seen any postings for a job like this.

I am a school nurse in central FL (LPN). Our county uses both LPN's and RN's. RN's are usually the district nurses, overseeing a number of schools. The elementary school in my county uses LPN's at each school.

What did you need to know?

mc3,

How do you find these positions? I've tried the Orange and Seminole County school web sites, but haven't seen anything.

Are you an RN or LPN? I found my job by accident, honestly. I signed up for alerts on Indeed.com, and it showed up there one day. I know our jobs (Lake County) appear on the School Board's web site. They are very few and far between, though. Like I said, it was just dumb luck, and I'm so glad I have it! Now that I think about it, I think Seminole may have done away with school nurses altogether..... :(

Good luck!!

I'm an RN-BSN in Orlando.

Check out edjoin.org. You are right , there are not many jobs in Florida. I would bookmark the school websites you are interested in and check them often. Also craigslist seems to be listing school nurse jobs in my area, and indeed.com and simplyhired.com are great sites.
