School nurses in upstate NY

HI!

I am looking for information on school nursing in the upstate NY area......principally Greene, Schoharie, Columbia, Delaware counties. I recently received my school nurse certification in NJ and will be finishing up the MSN degree next year. I am thinking of looking into either teaching health or allied health sciences in NY state. Does anyone here know about salaries, etc.? I checked in with a BOCES program and they said they have an allied health sciences class that I could teach. I'm not sure what salary I would need to live up there. I can't afford to use my school nurse cert in NJ because salaries are so low but I think it might be easier to live on less in that area. I would welcome any thoughts you school nurses in NY state may have. Thanks!:)

Cost of living is low compared to NYC in upstate NY. What do you consider upstate? I live in the Southern Tier, south of Buffalo. My salary is very low compared to everyone in the country. Homefair.com is a good place to do a cost comparison if you know the name of a city/town you want to relocate to.

Thanks! I'm considering Northeast NY.......Hudson valley area in the Catskills. I have a cottage in Windham, NY (Skiing) and if I sell my home in NJ and move up there housing costs won't be an issue because I own land and can build something pretty nice. I'm just looking at what kind of salaries are out there for teaching or school nursing. I know the hospital pay is low and I want to put my MSN to use and have a better lifestyle! I may make $50/hour here in NJ working at the bedside for agency.......but it's all relative when homes are $600,000 and taxes are another $10,000 per year, car insurance kills you, etc. :angryfire It just never ends here in NJ so in a few years I want to get out! Just planning........thanks!
