a care plan is an identification of the patient's nursing problems and strategies that address doing something about them. in order to accomplish that, you must assess the patient to determine what the signs and symptoms of those problems are. your assignment is specifically asking you to identify addiction to medication" as a problem. that is a medical problem. the patient's response to that, however, is a nursing problem. so, what you need to do is identify what the cause, signs and symptoms of addition to medication are. what medication are they talking about? i would assume they are leaving that up to you. people can abuse legal and illegal drugs. i would start by doing literature searches or looking for information in your textbooks about "drug dependence" or "drug abuse". use those signs and symptoms to lead you to nursing diagnoses and nursing interventions.
