schedule for Spring '08

Published

Hello everyone!

I just need a little input. I am planning to take Micro, A&P2, and Nutrition for Spring 08. I am debating if I really want to take all three classes at the same time. All these classes requires B to get in the program. I have a 3-year old daughter, full-time Mom;)

Anyone in the same shoe as mine? Did anyone experience taking all three classes at the same time?

Thanks:)

Only you know what you are capable of handling. I took some pretty heavy courseloads while raising a family, but I also have a wonderful husband to support me. If you are not feeling like you can handle it right now, cut back one class, an extra semester isn't a big deal. If you feel like you can make it through wihout your GPA suffering...go for it. It's really up to you. Best wishes.

I may be taking both Anatomy and Micro this spring (assuming I can get into Anatomy - my school only offers one section, which filled, waitlist and all, before I could enroll), plus History and a 1 unit class to get up to 12 units. I'd take Nutrition instead of History, but I need History before transferring, while Nutrition can wait. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. I think it will be manageable, but really, a lot depends on the instructors and your particular strengths.

How does the nursing school you're planning to apply to accept people? Is it a random lottery or waitlist of all qualified applicants, or is it competitive? If it's competitive and GPA matters, it might be smart to take the extra semester and be sure you can get As. If it isn't competitive, and you truly only have to meet the minimum qualifications, pushing through and doing both at once might be more worth it.

When you say Spring, do you mean Spring-Jan or Spring-May, sorry if it's seems like a dumb question, but I know some schools consider them differently. My school's Spring semester begins at the end of May and January starts our winter semester. Either way, it's totally doable if it's not accelerated. I just completed my Fall semester with 5 classes, 2 online, 3 on-campus. I had A&P 1, World Religion, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Software Applications. I ended up with 4 As, and an A+ in A&P....yea!! I am a married woman, but my husband is currently deployed to Iraq, has been for over a year now....so I am taking care of my 2 children full time and my 2 step children now and then....although last fall I had all 4 with 4 classes too. My youngest child is 6....but I also have a house full of pets and I foster for my local humane society. I'm rambling to say this..... you know what you are capable of. Although I question whether or not I should take that load at the beginning of every semester....I just go for it because I know if I put my mind to it, what I can do. Starting in January I am registered for A&P II, Micro, and Pharmacology....but since I got through 5 classes with good grades, I think that I can make it with 3 harder ones.

Whatever you choose, make sure it is right for you....just know that if you truly want to do it....you'll make things happen. Mothers usually are good in that department.

I just took micro and nutrition together and I would definately say it's not "easy" but definately no harder than anything else we have done so far, I recieved a 4.0 in both classes. Honestly it felt like my easiest quarter so far. I know I could have fit in A and P. I think it will be fine, provided you have good teachers and a good support system.

Best of luck to you!
