Hello and Good day,
I am planning to apply for licensure to South Carolina BON, but I am in a dilemma now and hope someone can advise me on this. I have already passed the IELTS, but the reqt of the SC BON is the TOEFL, I have emailed them to clarify if my IELTS will suffice but until now there is still no reply from them. Also, I am confuse abt the social security card or permanent resident card as one of their reqts since I am presently living here in the Philippines.
I am thinking if it is better for me to apply to another state for licensure and later apply for endorsement to SC when i passed my NCLEX. Has anyone here get through this process?
How long is the processing time for the application?
Hope someone can enlighten me on this. Thank you very much.

If their requirement states TOEFL, then you will need to contact them to see if they will accept the IELTS. Only they can give you the official word on it, but do think that they have other requirements for you as well thru CGFNS.
Please have a look at their website again.
Hello Suzanne,
Thank you for your prompt reply. There are 3 things on their reqts that made me confuse.
1. About the SS card or permanent residence card. I dont know how or where to get this, and I wonder if I can submit my local SS number here in the Philippines instead? Pls advise.
2. They also require CES and I am not sure how long this will take to process
3. TOEFL exam, I am still waiting for their reply to my email regarding this since I have my IELTS already.
I plan to apply to VT BON instead and endorse later to SC. Do you think this is a wise move for me? I do appreciate your assistance, again, thank you very much.
If they require the CES, which is a credentials evaluation, then you are going to need it to endorse as well.
You cannot get a SSN# until you have actually gone thru the immigration process and are in the US on a visa that will permit you to work. There is absolutely no way to obtain it while you are still in your country. Your local SS# does not permit you to work in the US and that is what they wish to see. If you do not have an actual SSN#, then you leave that spot blank in the application.
They will not look at your applicaiton without the CES being completed.
VT also has new restrictions/requirements in place. Suggest that you check them out before you consider doing a thing.
Not sure what the hurry is by not wanting to get the CES done, the US is under a retrogression so you are looking at five years plus for a chance at a green card for the US.
To go thru VT makes no sense at all, why throw out all of the money that you will be spending to get licensed there when you are not going to use it? And then you just delay others by going for a license there as time is spent on your application.
Thank you for your reply. It helps me a lot in making my decision regarding my application. You are right, there is no hurry in taking the exam considering the current retrogression taking place which can take many years, that is why I am doing lots of research before I log my application.
I have read some of the threads here and I salute you and the rest of the staff here for this wonderful site. The patience and advices you shared here are very valuable for us who are just starting this process.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you.:wink2:
