San Antonio nurses!

Hey everyone,

So it looks like my husband and I will be moving to San Antonio this summer/early fall. We're not sure on the exact location yet. I have already been doing some research on hospitals in the area and some of them sound great. I was wondering if anyone here has any experiences with the hospitals that they would like to share.

By the time we move I will have 4 years of nursing experience; 2 years on a progressive care unit and 2 years in the ED (level 4 trauma center, 40,000 visit). I'll also have about 2 years of charge nurse experience (more so in the ED than progressive care) but I think I'm just going to look for a regular staff RN position for now.

Thanks, everyone!

Anybody? :(

I'm also interested in the trauma levels of the various ERs, size, annual amount of visits, etc.

Check out Christus Santa Rosa Health system in San Antonio. I work there now and I love it! It's a catholic based non-for-profit hospital. There are 5 hospitals including the children's hospital downtown.

The San Antonio medical center area is actually in the far NW are of the city, but there are hospitals throughout all the other areas. I believe that University Hospital (teaching hospital in the med center) and Brook Army Medical Center (at Ft. Sam Houston) are the only two Level One trauma centers - if that is the area you're interested in.
