salary negotiation

Hi all,

I wanted to see if you have words of wisdom when it comes to salary negotiations. I am interviewing at two separate, somewhat comparable hospitals. I have been employed at the one hospital (we'll call it hospital A) for quite a while and they have approached me about a position.

The other hospital (B) is a bit farther drive but the job is in the field of my choice. Also, I know they are in fairly significant need of APNs on a timeline and are not finding many qualified applicants. I've heard that I am the most qualified applicant at hospital B.

I have been calculating out my current salary as a staff nurse with the addition differentials I receive and have come up with what I feel is a fair increase for taking on additional responsibilities and losing all of my differential becoming a salaried employee. Any other valid points I should consider with negotiating?

Thank you for any assistance you can offer!

Amt of CME - I work in private practice and get $1500/year, 5 days. pay for all credentialing fees, pay for malpractice. However, that said, always, always have your own malpractice insurance.

Do you mean 150,000 a year, for 5 days a week?

He was talking about CME monies, I believe. :)

Thanks for your response. I'm getting the impression with these hospitals that the CME monies are non-negotiable (and paltry).

Ha! Yeah, blonde moment. Thanks!!
