I dont' want to seem like I'm all about the money, because I'm not!

I just want to get started in my life and move back to my home to live

while having a nice lump of money to spend.. maybe even put a downpayment

on a house.

I'm just wondering, where is the best area to get a job that pays nurses the

highest with the lowest standard of living? I want to be able to at least store 2000 USD/month into my bank account .. I'll be living really not comfortably for a few years but it'll be worth it!

Also, which type of nurses make the most? (and no I don't want to go through more school to become a Nurse Anast.)

Check Minneapolis,MN. AbbottNorthwestern hospital. Good money , good MNA contract, Good MNA reps. Minneapolis offers good wages, reasonable real estate prices and good shopping. I highly recommend it.

If you really want to make some money consider working for an agency. They pay a lot. :D A nurse that is working on my unit said she worked agency just until she was able to build her a house (I have seen it, it is HUGE). She said she also does it couple of months before Christmas, so she can spend a lot of money. That nurse said she makes $26/hour working regularly, and $44 working for an agency. It is worth it if you don't mind constant hospital changes because you will most likely be assigned to different hospitals every few weeks.

Hey I'm actually going to be start studies for a BSN soon.. and I heard that even working in California, I could be making mid 40's starting! How well do agencies pay BSN's?

Hospital float night shift pays the best. Of course, more senority pays more. I did float with 10years+ RN credit. $38.00/ hour. All the training, relocation bonus, sign on bonus(they might have stopped that now), great, great benies. Good organization. Treats you right. At least from what I have experienced. CA doesn't pay when you factor in standard of living. I did agency for many years. It was good pay for a low senority nurse. No real benefits though. Now, Agency can't pay me enough for what I get being employed with years of RNship.

You were talking about low cost of living compared to the earnings... California is a wrong state for saving money. Yes nurses make a lot, but just look up the states avarage rent/mortgage payments. You can best look up cost of living vs. salary on salary.com

How well do agencies pay BSN's?

I can only tell you that the nurse that made $44/hour when she worked for an agency does not have a BSN. She has an ADN. Also check different hopitals for their nights and/or weekends differentials. Some hospitals pay a lot more compared to day shift.

I signed up Per Diem for MGA Health Care. They are a new company and they told me I would have health insurance which I never got. I got frustrated with them so I cancelled my contract and they didn't pay me the money they owed me. There recruiters are very unethical. They lie through their teeth.

You are right about the insurace. I got many advises not to expect any insurance from an agency. No matter what they say. I guess that's why they pay a lot, because you do not get any benefints.
