Hey guys wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students that applied to Sac State's nursing program for fall 2019. Feel free to share your stats.
Adjusted gpa: 4.0- 40 pts
teas score: 90.0- 19pts
optional criteria- 9pts
total- 68/88
Super nervous because of the new point system change, not exactly sure what's a good score to be at.

Yeah I did. I had my parents help so I could focus on school. These are my stats:

That's awesome ! Congratulations! We had basically the same stats except I got a 90 on my teas so only recieved 19 points on that section. I was only able to take my teas once because I ran out of time and I only studied for two weeks, but I plan on taking the teas again and will be applying for the upcoming spring semester.
I keep on beating myself up for not giving myself enough time to retake the teas. I Know if I would've taken it a second time I would have gotten a higher score and definitely gotten into the program. But you live and you learn.
Thanks! We just happened to be applying at time when they are working out the kinks of the new point system unfortunately. Don't beat yourself up, I talked to a couple people at admissions and their goal was to put less emphasis on the TEAS score by adding other merit point, however, they only put MORE emphasis on it by accident. It will probably change again by next semester. Just keep applying, a 90 on your TEAS is something to be proud of!

Even still, this is a huge feat in such a competitive area. Sincerely, congratulations of being such a good candidate.
How does the waitlist at sac state work? Do you remain on the list in future semesters and eventually get a spot or is it wiped clean every semester?

Congratulations!! I’m drooling over your teas score! Great job!
can I ask about your points for environmental background? I’m looking to apply next semester. I feel like I remember awhile ago reading that you get these points for doing your prerequisites locally, but now I can’t seem to find that. I was just looking earlier this week and it seems like now it’s given based on whether or not your high school is considered disadvantaged? I followed the links on the site but couldn’t find any information about my high school, I graduated in 2003 and don’t know how to track down the information to find out if I meet this criteria. I’m researching so many different application processes at this point, I may be mixing this up, but if you happen to know how to qualify for the environmental background points, I’d be grateful! I’m just wondering if it’s worth stressing about the teas at this point because even with a perfect gpa, and if I get a near perfect teas, there’s no chance for me without optional points.

Thanks!!
The environmental is for proximity to school. I couldn't find any information on it either but I went to school in El Dorado Hills which was definitely not disadvantaged so if they gave me points for it, it must be because it's local. Maybe county wide? The TEAS is probably the most important part unfortunately.. Points drop fast for grades so it can really make or break your admissions. I would buy the expensive package on the website and study lots. It's not super hard, it's just a lot of information to review, the questions try to trick you, and timing needs to practiced. Do as many practice tests as you can find (they are a little harder than the real exam so don't get discouraged) and retake if needed. Good luck!!
