RX call-in procedure

Hi! I am new here to the site and also new to office nursing. I previously worked in an area of the hospital where I NEVER called-in RX. I now am in the office setting and I am unsure of the correct wording when calling in a RX. I know to say the name of med, strength and instructions for how to take med. But, I am not sure how to properly indicate the # of pills for example. Please provide any input you have. Sorry to sound so dumb! Thanks.

Here's what I say: "This is S calling from XXXX at 123-4567. This rx is on XXXXX DOB 123456. Drug name, strength, number 30 with 2 rf's per dr x." I always just say "number" then how many to indicate number of pills. HTH!

My standard call-in

"Hi this is Julia calling from Dr. so-and-so's office, our number is ###-####. Calling in an RX for Joe Shmoe DOB ##/##/####. Prescription for Lipitor 20mg 1 by mouth every day quantity 3 months with 3 refills."

Our doc gives yearlys...its a bit trickier to call in insulins...My doc is an Endocrinologist. He's got these people on some pretty wacky regimines, so it gets hard to call em in sometimes!
