RUSH GEM program possible applicant in Chicago IL

U.S.A. Illinois

Hi everyone!

I am new to this site, and I don't really have anyone else to talk to about nursing, so I figured why not just ask on here.

I have 1 more semester left of my undergrad at UIC, and I am hopefully graduating with a degree in Psychology and a Biology Minor. I have really good relationships with professors that I can as for a LOR, as well as research experience, and volunteering at RUSH university. I also plan on shadowing a physician in the spring semester, as well as get my EMT licence since I will be off in the spring. The only downside is my 2.87 gpa. The GEM program requires at least a 3.0. Although I have yet to take the GRE, i know i have to do phenomenal. Should I even try?

Specializes in Leadership, Psych, HomeCare, Amb. Care.

RUSH U. has information sessions every month, I think.

Best bet is to go and have a little informal chat with one of the professors.

Yeah I'm planning to go to the one in June hopefully. If I do have an informal talk with one of the professors, I just don't know how to explain myself fully about the worry about my gpa

I'll be there as well. I'm still trying to figure out if I need the gre or not

FutureRnWaiting, Can I ask you if you're applying to that GEM program? and how your academics were in your undergrad? I still haven't taken the GRE yet but I'm just confused on what I should do before I apply to this program. From one person figuring things out to another, I would really appreciate your advice! :)

I think you have a chance =) please don't give up. I am just trying to figure out If I have to take the GRE. My Undergrad is a 3.7 science is 3.2 idk

ummm thats no where close to where I stand! lol I also think you don't need to take the GRE since they waive it if you're above a 3.5. It should say that on their website, I also remember the admissions guy talking about that at the open house.

They actually said it's at a 3.25 then they will waive it. Hmmmm but idk. so you already attended an information session?

Yes I did, I think theres one in the beginning of each month, you should go to one!

What kind of information do they give us? and how do I know if I need the Gre. Any thoughts

We have to fight to pursue our dreams as Rush students in the GEM program. Let's do it

FutureRnwaiting, have you been admitted to the program? I apologize in not responding. I had summer classes as well as finishing up my last term of my undergrad.
