Rude comments

Just wanted to get on here and ask if anyone has gotten rude comments on their posts?  I have and I don't appreciate it.  Dealing with the nursing board and anything else related to addiction is hard enough without being called stupid.  Didn't your momma teach you "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.”
thanks for letting me vent!  I wish you all the best! ?❤️

Use those rude comments in your favor. I do it in everyday life. It is 2026 and the USA and you know what that means. It means there will ALWAYS be that person online whether in this forum or any social media platform that will be rude. Its a given. Use it as a recovery learning tool in that.......you absolutely have to not let other humans expectations strike at your ego. You let them roll off your shoulder and move on and you think of all the good people in the world and your family and friends that support you and you focus on that. You also focus on yourself. Are you meeting your own expectations and your higher power's expectation? For me, that higher power is God. Am I good with myself and God? If that answer is yes, then in reality, the others expectations don't matter much, whether good comments or bad comments.

Use the negativity to benefit your recovery. Each and every time you get a negative comment in life, not just on this forum, but in life, if you truly learn and develop the ability to NOT internalize it, you are then making dramatic recovery strides. Additionally, the opposite is true. With all the great comments and compliments, say "thank you" and then quickly Move On. Don't do much deep internalization of those either because they also can stroke your ego, and too much of that is also dangerous for recovery/relapse.

In summary....it's really all about controlling your ego (for both the good and the bad.) Its hard to do also. We all struggle with it. Its a work in progress.
