RT to RN programs

Published

Hello. I'm a respiratory therapist looking to get into the nurse practitioner field. My question is this. I need to get my RN degree online because I need to maintain full time status. Which RT to RN program should I go for, and has anyone had experience similar to mine?

Specializes in Public Health.

I don't think you can skip nursing school clinicals and labs. I think you may need to do at least your first few years in person before you can think about online only study.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

There aren't any any longer. Excelsior has a online theory with an in person clinical practicum challenge at the end for experienced clinicians; however RT's are no longer eligible. Only currently licensed LPNs, EMT-P/paramedics and certain classifications of military medics are eligible as of late last year.

Check your county colleges they may have an evening or part time program for RT to ASN so that you can continue to work full time
