Jan 30, 201214 yr I just wanted to start a new tread for those of us that have applied to Roane State and are awaiting letters in May. Everyone please feel free to share your thoughts and questions. Good Luck ALL
Mar 16, 201214 yr I was really hoping I had a good chance of getting in, but now...Anyway, I'm sure you'll get into Roane State this year! Your GPA has got to be pretty good, and you have all of your classes done, right? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you if you'll do the same for me :)
Mar 16, 201214 yr Author I will definitely do the that for you. I was absolutely devastated last year. I really hope the 3.8 GPA rumor is just that! I have finished all my classes, it only took me since 2005...lol kids and life just kept throwing curve balls. Anyways if you look through past RSCC threads you'll see that some years people that didn't have all their classes done got in. I just really think the pool of people applying that particular year is what matters the most. Maybe some more members will join our discussion and post what they have so we can get an over all good idea of this years pool.
Mar 16, 201214 yr Random question. Can you all still see your application in your raidernet account? My was there and now it is gone. It kinda freaks me out.
Mar 17, 201214 yr A lot of the people I know who were going to apply for the program decided not to. A few of them didn't do so well in A&P, and a lot of them figured they didn't have a shot at all, so neither applied. Kinda bums me out for them. So that kind of gives me an idea of the pool that's coming from my campus.
Mar 17, 201214 yr @ ComingSoon- You're very welcome!I attend the Cumberland County campus. Hopefully, I'll be at the Harriman campus next semester!!
Mar 21, 201214 yr Anyone go to the admissions advisement session today?? I know I learned a few things that I didn't know before!
Mar 21, 201214 yr @kate2353 Would you care to share a little of what you learned? I wasn't able to make it.
Mar 21, 201214 yr I can tell you what really stood out to me, but if you have any questions, I might be able to answer them. Okay.... GPAs are calculated on a scale. They weigh the most out of everything (number of classes completed, 'A' or 'B' in science and math). ****** ******* (nursing admissions coordinator) stressed that quite a bit. She told us to look on Roane State's PTA page. There, they have a scale, and it's basically what the nursing committee uses. It'll give you a much better view at where you stand. I didn't really understand what she said about LPNs, so I hope that doesn't apply to you. Also, she said to count on coming to school or clinicals five days a week. You may or may not have to come that often, but it's your best bet. A woman asked a lab instructor how many hours she thought we should set aside for lab, lecture, and clinicals so she could figure out a work schedule, and they basically told her to not work if at all possible. That's all that's at the top of my head right now, but if you can think of any other questions, feel free to ask!
Mar 21, 201214 yr Thanks - that is really helpful! I'm going to go look at the PTA page right now! :-)
