Hi! I'm new and I don't know too much about nursing.
I am currently a senior and wanting to major in nursing. I've gotten accepted into the school that I want to go to but is that all I have to do at the moment? I have been really confused as to when/if I apply for the BSN program. I've been asking around and what I hear seems to contradict what others say. Then after that would be Nursing school to become an RN?
Thanks!

Have you spoken to an advisor? If they have them, try talking to a health studies advisor. They usually have all the info. I know at our school we have to do a health sciences orientation and it gives us info on specific majors. You need to take your general ed classes (english, math, history, speech, usually psychology and sociology) Then you will take your science classes. If you go full time you can get them done in 2-2.5 years and then go on to do your RN classes.

In addition to the above, you can check the Course Catalog as that should have a listing of all courses that a program requires, including prerequisite courses. It should also have a listing of all courses the college requires for graduation: Lower Division GE and Upper Division GE. If you do this before you contact an advisor, you'll be able to make your meeting with them much more productive and you'll be able to craft a better course of study plan than if you tried this on your own.

Hello there,
In addition to what SunshineDaisy said, make counseling appointments with local schools that have nursing programs. If the nursing departments themselves have their own counselors, even better. Also, nursing programs often have open house meetings that explain the program and admission requirements. These are your best sources for information.
Counselors are human beings. They sometimes make mistakes because they have outdated or incomplete information. I have been misled many times, even by the school's own counselors. I am glad I cross-referenced my information with multiple people. It felt like a waste driving to all the schools to ask the same questions over and over again but it would have been more of a waste to spend a semester or two following a faulty plan of education.
Good luck!
