Are there any RN to Sonography or ultrasound programs avaliable? Or vice versa? I haven't heard of any. I'm jus wondering because I thought it would be interesting to be able to work as both. If your already a nurse and want to get into sonography does it take 2 years or 1? Thanx!

I have not heard of any. I would probably be surprised to see one, as the scope of practice does not really overlap between Sonographer and RN. In LPN to RN programs, there is some overlap so that is why you'll see a lot of bridge programs for that.
But, some of your RN classes might transfer or at least count as pre-reqs for sonography, such as A&P or something like that. That might save you a little time, assuming that you still remember what you learned in those classes :)

No. They don't. BUT if you have your BSN you may be able to get into an accelerated sonography program for those who already have thier bachelors degree. Jefferson is one example. In the accelerated program it takes 1 year to complete instead of 2.

No. Sonography is a separate degree. I was in the program. There are similar prereqs and gen ed courses, but that is it.
I was in a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and switched to the RN program.
You can become a sonographer in 1 year if you have your BSN, or an ADN at some places. My school will let you do that, but you still have to wait and the wait at my school is 3 years to get into the Sonography clinicals.
You could also take ultrasound classes. Ultrasound technicians do sonograms, but they cannot diagnose or do anything in depth in regards to sonograms.

To enter the sonography program at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY you must have a 2 year degree for RN or an allied health profession such as respiratory therapist or radiologic technologist. You can also apply if you have a bachelors degree and 8 credits of A&P. It is a certificate program and takes 1 year to complete. Hope this helps. You can see all this on their website too. hvcc.edu

Try American Institute. I think they have a mostly online sonography program that you just need a 2 year allied health degree for. They are located in FL.
