If you want to be an educator, look for an MSN with a focus on professional development (education) - Not an NP program. These programs generally include teaching practicums and incorporate a ton of educational research & theory as well as development of instructional design skills. Educators also need a solid foundation in Education law and those of us in workplace education need to understand employment law related to education.... all of this is usually included in the curriculum.
If conducting research is your heart's desire, you really need to set your sights on obtaining your doctorate. As a stepping stone, you could do just about any type of MSN - they all include statistics and research methods. You will also have to opt for Masters Thesis rather than trying to escape with some sort of other option. Fair warning, this journey will involve a lot
of statistics. (I had 6 hours in my MSN & 12 hours in my EdD).
I hope you choose education - we need you. There are also grant & scholarship funds available due to the critical shortage of qualified nurse educators. Talk to your local nursing school for more info.

I'm having the same problem. I want to be NP focuss in Mental health. There are so many online colleges, so many different degrees, some acredited with this...others with that. I don't understant half of it.
