RN/MAN to work in USA

Hello! My fiancee is an RN in the Philippines. She haven't taken the NCLEX, CGFNS, IELTS. She's about to graduate this March and earned her Masters degree. What is the chance for her to get these credentials accepted here in the US? Any help of what we're supposed to do once she gets here to get a job as an RN will be greatly appreciated. I want her to have a smooth transition here. Thank you..

    She could start the process now if she has already completed her RN and meet state requirements although a lot will depend on state and their requirements for International trained nurse

    If she wishes to work in California, she will be unable to apply for an RN license by examination (NCLEX-RN) until she gets a SSN. California does not require passing the CGFNS exam or IELTS. The state also does not require credentials evaluation from a third party (such as CES) because the BRN conducts their own evaluation based on official transcript of records and a Breakdown of Educational Program (a form downloadable from the BRN website) sent directly from the foreign nursing school. You didn't mention what kind of nursing experience she already has. That can certainly affect her chances of getting a job more so than having a MAN degree from the Philippines. In fact, I doubt if her MAN degree will make a difference with some employers.

    Master's degrees in the US have a specialty focus. There are still a few that are considered "generic" master's degrees but even those ones have a specific field of concentration such as administration/management or teaching/education for instance.

    All the Advanced Practice Nursing roles (APN = NP, CRNA, CNS, or CNM) require specific master's degrees aimed at training the nurse to be certified and be able to perform the scope of practice each APN role involves. I believe these kinds of master's degrees are not available in the Philippines and even if a school in the Philippines decides to call their master's degree offerings with similar names as those in the US, the specific program will not be recognized in the US for the purpose of certification or clinical practice.

    Some of the non-APN master's degrees in the US with a specific focus on education, clinical nurse leader, or informatics only apply to current nursing practice in the US setting. Even if Philippine nursing schools copy these programs and offer them in the Philippines, they would not allow students the practical exposure to the field students in the US get. In my opinion, that is enough to make programs in the Philippines not similar or equivalent to most US employers.

For the last 6 years, i've been waiting patiently and now my PD is current. my visa was approved and hoping to leave next month.. i've been working as nurse for 15 years, NCLEX passer and had MAN while waiting.. my agency will be the one to find job for us RN's recruited by them. I was interviewed for SNF in ND last week.. Would it be favorable for me to work on LTC /SNF for start? please enlighten me..

    I would say to start with a job is a job and at least you can work whilst looking at alternatives
