Rn or Lvn?

I've done 97% of my prerequisites the only classes I need left are my sciences:Physiology, micro, and chemistry, and I'm done..Would it be best to just finish those classes and apply for the RN nursing program?Cause there are so many people trying to get in the program it just feels impossible for me to get in myself.I'd have to apply to many nursing programs and who knows how long it will take if I ever get in,then if I'm lucky and I do get accepted isn't the nursing program another 2 years? So would it be easier to go to a private school (Concorde) for Lvn which takes 1 year, then later go for Rn? or would it be best to just continue at city college?

I'm in your same situation. Currently I'm in the LPN program at a CC. I need Chemistry, Math, Sociology, and FINe arts to apply for the RN program. Once I graduate in July as an LPN, I'm going to take a year to finish all my prereqs, and hopefully do the bridge LPN-RN in 2010. Good luck to what ever you decide.

I did my LPN first but it was at a community college so my pre-reqs were the same for when I did the LPN to RN bridge. I think most programs want you to have your pre-reqs done before you apply anyway. Doing the LPN first is a great option, imo, but I'd make sure that if you decide to go to a private school that your credits will transfer. Also consider the pay and type of jobs LPNs are getting in your area. Good luck.
