I am doing mine at FIU because it is near my house, and it's totally online. & of course it's a state school, so the price is right.

I would suggest to you to look into your local state university, most likely they will have an RN-BSN program.

good luck!

I just started last week at Chamberlain online and I am pleased. They have been so helpful through the whole process and the website is user friendly. Do your research!! I spent a few weeks researching before I decided. Best of luck!!

I'll be doing the BSN online at St Petersburg College....right after I get my RN. The classes are all online and the price is right. I'll have completed an AA at the end of this semester :) so will only have the nursing classes to do for the BSN.

I heard st petersburg college is really good too. It's part of the state public college so it's cheaper than the state universities.

Chamberlain: here's my take-- if you are doing an RN-BSN program, why pick an expensive school when there are so many state schools and state colleges that offer the same exact program for a whole lot less $$. UNLESS you cannot get into the public schools then I understand.... (sometimes people graduate from .... let's say Keiser or City college & their credits are not transferable to a state university). Just my 2cents here.

I am aslo thinking about SPC. Their program seems to be totally online. Do you know if there are just online classes? or are there clinicals too? how long does it take to get BSN?

I can tell you what my co-worker told me about spc!!!!!!!!!!!

we talk and compare programs..

SPC is TOTALLY online. you never have to step foot in a campus once. (unlike FIU, there is one testing day for clinical assessment course).

for community health, you have to make up a teaching project, and film yourself teaching it to a person. my co-worker taught her kids on bike safety and her husband filmed it.

it is community college prices. so for 3 classes I spent $1880 and she spent $1300-$1400

there was no testing or anything of that sort like the FIU program where you take 3 EC exams (I have 2 left to take)

for practicum, she can do her hours at our hospital but it cannot be in the same section where she works.

my co-worker took 4 years to complete the program because she said she wanted to do things very slow.

but I am sure that if you do more than 3-4 classes per semester you can be done in a year and a half.

Thanks, BumblebeeRN!

that is good news! So, you can take classes at your own pace, cant you? do I understand it right?

Is it hard to be accepted into the program?

I am still considering USF vs SPC, both in my area

Not hard to get into the program at all. They accept students on space availability.

AS long as you have your minimum requirements.

For example, in FL the state public universities require a 2 years of a foreign language from HS students, or you have to take 2 semesters at the university.

If you went to HS here in FL you probably have your language requirement.

If you have a 2.0-2.5 GPA which is the minimum to get into the RN-BSN programs you should get in.

And if you went to a public community college, you should get in easily to a state university because they have a deal with the community colleges that all students that graduate from the community colleges have the right to get a higher education, except on the limited access programs, such as RN, architect... just to name a few.

Personally, I like "university" grad. so to be getting my BSN from a university is super cool.

USF or SPC is just personal preference. you can go to a "university" or a "college".

Keiser costs a lot and I read reviews elsewhere people didn't like it.
