RN accelerated programs in NYC

Admissions committee members look at both -- your overall GPA when you completed your first bachelor's degree AND the overall GPA of your post-bacc prerequisites.

So, it's to your best interest to get the highest possible grades in the remainder of your coursework and in the prerequisities if you want to attend an accelerated program.

HOWEVER -- that being said -- if you're flexible, and are willing to complete an accelerated nursing program in another state (particularly a rural or southern state), then I think your chances of admission are higher with a less-than-stellar GPA. Why? Competition to these programs is not as fierce as the NYC area.

I am somewhat confused. I am a 3rd year BS student at NYU majoring in Nutrition. I have been keeping an eye out for accelerated nursing programs in the NY area. However, at NYU, my GPA isn't all that beautiful. This worries me because when I apply to the few programs that exist here in NYC.. I fear of being rejected since I have read how competitive these programs are. I really don't know what to do if god forbid I get rejected from the programs I apply to.

Does any one have any advice on that?

Also.. how do these programs look at GPA? Are they looking at what GPA I graduated my first bachelors with? Or are they looking at the pre req's averages?
