Any one else in here struggle with ADHD? It really can make nursing school a bit challenging. But I have my tricks!

My son has it and is on Focalin XR..It works great for him(he's in elementary school). I just would like to caution you to let your program director know you are on this med and you may also have to call the BON to let them know.

Just curious why you think my program director needs to know....

Also, no idea about BON...

I'm a straight A student, second year. With meds I do pretty good, just study and take tests a little different.

My oldest son has AD/HD combined type and I see his struggles daily. After his dx, I became more aware and I'm pretty sure he got it from me. Anyway, none of the stimulants helped him (the side effects were greatly exaggerated and we stopped all amphetamines when he developed facial tics with Concerta) and he's been on clonidine and it's helped. It's an off-label use. As for adults, my best friend was dx with ADD in grad school and she's on something and focalin. She recommended the group CHADD because it's for kids and adults.

Jilaena, your program director needs proof that you are prescribed because ADHD meds have amphetamines in them, which can turn up positive on a drug test.
