Hi. What are some cases where a nurse's license was revoked? As many of you know, my case hasnt come up yet and I self reported back on Feb 2016. I really don't know what to expect. I am in recovery for alchohol and opiates. During my active addiction, I diverted Norco from patients who were no longer taking them, I was a home health nurse then. I never received any patient complaints. The patients did not miss any of their meds, however I know this doesnt make it right or acceptable! It never should have happened. I admitted everything to the BON investigator without a lawyer. After this long surely they will do anything other than revocation. I have been working as RN since I finished IOP. I did complete IOP in 2016. I went to inpatient treatment in Nov 2015 but did not complete- I stayed 60 out of 90 days. Guess now its just the waiting game! I have a criminal lawyer who represented me when I met with the DEA agent in 2016. DEA never arrested me, nothing ever went to court. Attorney generals office tried to contact me 2 months ago and left a voice mail. My lawyer called them back with no response. So everything now is just up in the air!

Hello and congrats on your continued sobriety.
My license was revoked in 2003 for not completing the "alternative to discipline program" where I was originally licensed.
I now live in a different state, have completed all but the clinical portion of my refresher course, been sober 14 years, and am awaiting a permit to complete clinicals. Once that is done, I am sure I will be required to be on probation for a minimum of 3 years, with all the bells and whistles that go with it.
I am not sure of your states rules, but, you could possibly face the alternative program, in which case (for some states), your license would be clear and clean once completed.
I am sure all of this is frustrating. It is for me, as I await the decision of the BON to allow me to continue with the refresher. I have said it before, to others waiting for the BON to contact them, how can the BON think you are UNSAFE, yet wait 3 plus years to contact someone, or take action???? I am baffled!
Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!
Thank you! I wish you well!
