Review Center

Any recommendation for review center for local board here in the philippines.In preparation for Board Exam on Dec'06.

When did you finish school?Why are you taking the NLE on December and not in June?

Anyway, I highly recommend RAY GAPUZ REVIEW. I enrolled in his review last year for the NLE June 2005. And I PASSED!!!

A close friend of mine took the PRS review and said that they are also good. Your school required you to review in PRS, am I correct in thinking that you are graduating from UST? PRS' lecturers are from UST, and most of their reviewees are from UST. Actually, our school required us to take the review program of RCAP (first 2 lecturers were good, but after them, BORING!!!) then after graduation I enrolled again at Ray Gapuz's. He is the best lecturer, he's super funny! Even the venue for his reviews are very comfortable, he makes sure of that.

The review is usually held in one of these venues: cuneta astrodome, PNB building in Macpagal ave., PICC, or grand boulevard hotel. It depends on how many registered for their review. I just took the local boards this december and passed.. I also reviewed at Gapuz..I took both the comprehensive and the intensive reviews. Mr. Gapuz is an effective reviewer, all his classes were great, wish i can say the same for all the other sessions presided by the other reviewers..I still think it boils down to one's study habits,focus.. But if i have to do it all over again.. i will only take the intensive review classes because Mr. Gapuz seem to cover all the other sessions perfectly well.. Well then as i said this depends on the individual preferences..:)

hi.. im planning to review in baguio city by next year. I would like to ask some suggestions as to which do you think is the best review center so far in the north? i highly suggest Pentagon and no other. five proven specialists in their respective fields. after you have reviewed for the local board, you may only need a few more things to read to pass the nclex-rn. here's what i got (and what you can get too) after reviewing in pentagon:

1 i finally understood research. i had that subject since high school but only here in pentagon did i understand the terms, steps, etc. you must take note that research is also given in the board exam. we had it in the recent june2006 board exam.

2 if your college med-surg nursing is a truckload of stress, reviewing in pentagon will help you to easily understand the concepts of each disease, meds, nursing mgt, etc. and you'll forget about stress. you'll have fun while learning.

3 this is absolutely one of the best things you'll learn and remember from pentagon: psych nursing.

a. remember all those meds they taught you in school or in your clinical duty in the mental hospital? did you have a hard time memorizing them all? or even just categorizing the medicinies? dude, after you review in pentagon, you'll be able to do that! and i tell you, most of the questions in the recent june2006 board exams regarding meds is about psych drugs. and im not boasting but i got em all correct and it took me only 5 seconds to know the right answer from the choices (btw, the 5 secs i mentioned is not figurative. it is literal).

b. you will never forget the concepts and important details about a certain psych disorder (unless you choose to). the lecturer facilitated the learning very well and only here in pentagon was i able to enjoy learning that much, esp. psych nursing.

4 the most dreaded community nursing (although really boring as it is, i admit) will not be as boring as you had it in college. only while reviewing here did i understand the concepts, and got motivated to read the whole D'OH! book. and the BON really gives questions directly from the green D'OH! book. verbatim.

5 OB and pedia will be two easy subjects as well compared to your college experience. for example, the developmental milestones of a child (which btw is a favorite topic of the BON both in the local exam and nclex) will be so easy to learn and retain. you'll be able to enumerate some (if not all) in just a few minutes.

6 the lecturers dont only give the lectures, they also give advices, especially if you have plans on going abroad to practice. they also have lots of effective tips regarding test-taking strategies, etc.

7 they can help you not to panic. i was able to maintain my mild level of anxiety through them.

8 all the things you have learned in the review for the local board will be very much of use in the nclex-rn or any other foreign exam (maybe except CHN since the local CHN is very different in the US and other countries)

i can only enumerate a few things here. the experience speaks for itself. you'll never really understand unless you experience it yourself. im sharing this to you because i also want others to have the same great experience i had from reviewing in pentagon.

but well, in the end, it's still your choice :)
