Hey everybody!! I am new to the forum and I have to say that I love this site. Everyone seems to be very helpful and offer great advice!
I took the Hesi test today to exit my school program. We needed a minimum score of 850 and I got a 790. This is the first time my class has taken Hesi.. We have not had any other tests to determine where we stand. There are 16 people in my group and only 7 passed. I have to retake the hesi exam in two weeks, does anybody know if the second exam is the same one as the first one? I can't seem to find that answer anwhere! T
hank you all for your help!!

From what I have heard, each exam is different. I did take it one time, but my classmates who had to repeat the exam did tell me the exams were different each time.
Good luck!

I seems like all the Lpn schools are taking Hesi for their exist exam. How was the first exam. What subject areas did they ask.
First of all, I wanted to say thank you for reading my post and replying!
The Hesi exit exam was harder than expected. Approximately 50% of the people in my class passed. However, we have not had any other exams like that so we kinda didnt know where we stood when we went into it. I know some schools take several Hesi exams throughout the year. However, we just had this one exit exam. It asked some maternity, pediatrics, psych questions as well as ALOT of fundamentals questions such as catheter care, delegation, scope of practice for LPN, personal protective equipment, shaving a man, etc. There wasn't a whole lot of Med-Surg questions.
I think where I messed up was that I was able to narrow each question down to two answers. I ended up choosing the second best answer most of the time. Oh well, hopefully I will do better the second time and pass! I think a lot of people are pretty disappointed and discouraged because they thought they would do better that what they did.
Don't be discouraged. This is a good opportunity to review the exam material and gain a better understanding of it. Take this opportunity to study and review, as though you were reviewing for the nclex.

Is my school the only one that does not use the HESI as an exit exam? My school uses it as an entrance exam. Anotherwords, you can take your electives, some bio courses, and psych courses, however you cannot get near the actuall nursing programs until you pass the program. I think it is fairly senseless to test someone on information when you have never been tought the information! I need to find something to help me prepair for the exam without having any courses surrounding the information. I am going to take A&P before I take the exam, but can anyone suggest anything for someone without any nursing classes under their belt?

Hello! I am writing this to encourage everyone who has to take the Hesi RN again. I did not pass the first time. I got an 822 and our school requires an 850-or you do not graduate! I was so panicked! I read these boards and they did not help me feel any better-it seems most failed no matter what they did. If you do not have a knowledge deficit-I highly recommend the Kaplan test-taking strategies. I went from an 822 to an 1148 on my second try. I did do many practice questions as well. Don't do questions based on just knowledge level or "easy" questions. Make sure that all of the questions you practice are at an application/analysis level. When I took the test the second time I used all of the test-taking strategies-ruling things out until I got to the right answer-even though I felt like it might be the wrong answer (but it was the only thing left). If you are lacking in knowledge in a certain area-take the time before your next test to study Saunders/Silvestri and practice many questions from the area. You can do it!!
