Anybody else waiting for their license because of a resolution to conviction pending? I had a trespassing and vulgar language charge 13 years ago and am waiting for the GBoN to review my case. It's hard to believe how you past will come up and bite you hard... :crying2::crying2::crying2:

I too am awaiting to receive my license number for a charge on my record from almost fifteen years ago.....I am so depressed and tired of checking the BON website a thousand times a day. But I believe in GOD and that he didn't bring me this far to turn me around.....I hope everything works out for you. How long have you been waiting?

I agree...but I am disheartened right now. I took NCLEX on the 17. I check GBON a couple times a day and call a couple times a week. Each time I call I get a new response...none are the right response.

Good Luck.

I have been told that it can take up to three months for them to make a decision....so I am patiently waiting....

Hey I am in the same boat as you. Took my test on July 14, a friend I went to school with has the same issue took his test the last week in june. Have you received your license yet?

Thanks for any info. and for posting this question I have been looking for info. everywhere.

Nope, nothing yet:hdvwl:

I really would like to call the BON, but I have been told that calling them will delay the process...is this true? This waiting is really driving me up the wall.

you guys should be also be worried about finding and obtaining a job with a record at this moment.

No, that's not true. I called today. I used the board website to see when they meet. I called to see if they reviewed me at their last meeting and they had not because they had just received the information that I had passed on the meeting date. The next review date is Sept. 15 so I have to wait until then :( My friend who is also in the same situation and took his test about three weeks before me. He was reviewed at the last meeting. After you are reviewed by the board they send your info to Legal dept. The legal dept. reviews it and then if approved you should receive your license in 8-10 days. The problem is the board only meets every 2-3months...that's what it takes so long. Good luck everyone! I'll let you know what happens with me.

Thanks a lot NurseMissHart......I think I will give them a call tomorrow. By the way, what state are you in? Also, someone earlier posted that we should be thinking about a job at this point.....just please give me my license and I will most definately find a job....it may not be where I like, but at least I will doing what I love, and that's caring for others......keep me posted, and good luck! Did your friend get his license?

Well I called the BON and the only thing they could tell me was that my case is in the legal department, and there was no time frame as to how long it would take....

Hey, ok so an update with me. I should have mentioned earlier that I got a job as a tech at a hospital in Georgia and I am applying at this same hospital to work. They already offered me the job as an RN but my managers didn't know about my BUI (boating under the influence--it was a jetski, but same difference). I did tell a woman in HR but she seemed to brush it off and never brought it up in subsequent interviews with the managers present. (I interviewed twice, once for the tech job another time for the RN job). Anyway, I recommend that anyone with legal situations do this (get a job as a tech). That way you are more than your legal situation at your interview and your managers know who you are and can better determine if you are a person that made a mistake or if you are a person that maybe doesn't belong in their unit.

So I happened to mention to a nurse that I work with that I hadn't gotten my license yet because I had gotten into some trouble and he told me don't worry he had a similar situation and just be upfront with the managers. I went and spoke to them today and they were wonderful and very understanding. They said they'd work it out and I would still have a job with them. I don't know what will happen in the meantime before receiving my license but the moral here is just be honest, they will respect you for coming forward and may be more accepting than you think--after all they are nurses and that's what we do. ;)

I also live in Ga. and I am also waiting for the GBON. In 2004, I was charged with" theft by receiving " for a car I bought. I was give 3yrs of probation and my record was sealed, under the provisions of the "Act for probation of first Offenders". I have already take and passed boards. My my case went before the board in May 2010. I was told that I a letter would be mailed to me 8-15 days after they reviewed my case. I waited the 15 and had still not received anything in the mail. So, I called today to see what was going on. I was told that my case was now in the legal dept. and they were in the process of creating a "consent agreement". This document will be mailed to me via certified mail and I would be required to agree, sign and return it in order to receive my nursing licence. I am not exactly sure what they want me to consent to? and in signing this what kind of stigma; If any would be attached to my licence? and for how long? I could see if I had a history of drug abuse, DUI conviction, fraud or even a violent past. I have already been offered a job as an R.N. and scheduled to start orientation. I was told that It could take up to another 3 weeks before I would be given my licence. I looked into all of this before I was even applied to nursing school and was told that I should not have any problems. For the most part it was true. I had no problem with the background check to get into nursing school, no problem with clinical placement and minimal problems with getting my ATT. Hell, didn't have a problem getting a job in a local hospital while I was in school. The same hospital that offered me the R.N. position. All my problem started once passed boards. What am I going to do? I will post an update as to what the terms of my agreement are once it arrives. Thank You for reading.
