Hi,
I'm a senior med-surg student. I have to come up with a topic to for a research paper that will be 10-15 pages. I came up with the idea of: what is the best method to use for femoral artery closure after cardiac catheterization. The problem is there is only 1 research article within my university's journal collection so I will have to change my topic.
Is there any topic that will provide a decent amount of research articles to use?
Thank you in advance!

My suggestion is to not focus on a specific topic just yet. Don't narrow your focus too soon. Most students make that beginner-level mistake in choosing paper topics. They start with a very specific topic/quetions and end up choosing topics that are not a good fit for the assignment. Experienced writers and researchers start with broad ideas ... search widely ... and narrow their focus gradually as they educate themselves about the more general field.
Use the following steps to find a good topic for your assignment.
1. Pick a general topic/area that interests you. Think broad areas, not specific topics to begin with.
2. Browse the literature on that topic to get a feel for what the big issues are in the care of those kinds of patients.
3. As you browse the literature (in many different journals), notice which topics have been written about by lots of people ... which topics have research to back up clinical recommendations ... which topics need more research, etc.
4. Based on that assessment of the literature, pick a topic that will work well for your particular assignment.
That method of topic selection guarantees that the topic will be of general interest to you and also that the literature needed to complete your assignment will be available.

I would go broad with the research. What are your interests? Is there a particular system you like most? Is there an ethical dilemma you find interesting in healthcare? How about nursing education?
1. I know there is a lot of research on pain control with alternative methods (different relaxation techniques deep breathing, meditation, art therapy, music therapy, ect..)
2. There is also a lot of literature on stem cell research.
3. Skin integrity outcomes related to turning patients every 2 hours
4. Nursing student success related to nursing entrance exams.
Hope some of this helps to stimulate a topic for you. Good luck.
