Thank you for the info. If you have any topic ideas they are also welcomed. I came up with a few such as breasfeeding vs formula, prevention of nosocomial infections, infants hearing screening, etc. But any help is more than welcome.

Okay but if you can figure a way to research these you have to give me some acknowledgement!!!

There is a recurrent problem I have hit with patients becoming agitated and in some cases outright confused due to a strong and distressing sense of urgency related to the urinary catheter - BUT there is NOTHING mentioned about this problem in our texts so the first step:-

1) Incidence of severe bladder irritation related to urinary catheterisation (quantitative study)

2) Catheter related urgency and patient impact - the nursing experience (qualitative study)

3) Bladder re-inflation as a method of stopping bladder irritation related to urinary catheterisation

There is a huge black hole dficit in our research on pressure areas and pressure area management

There is another black hole in management and prevention of diahorrhea in tube fed patients - and here is another freebie idea - In many cases the syringes used in relation to the NG tubes are "reused" on the same patient on the basis that it does not have to be sterile BUT are these syringes growing "nasties" that are responsible (at least in part) for the high rates of diahorrhea seen in tube fed patients.
