Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

*Hello Everyone. right now I attend edison state college in ft.myers fl . Now heres my problem I have taken A&P twice already and scored a D both times, The first time I took the class I was really struggling and the second time I took the class with the same professor I did much much better but she still Gave me a D. I tried speaking with her about the grade and she refused to change the score . Now heres my problem I dunno where I stand with trying to get into a nursing program whether I stay here in ft.myers but Im really stressed because I feel like I dunno if other schools will even look at my application because of the fact I have taken A&P twice already. I'm truly clueless at what I should do, and if its hopeless for me to even try to apply to the nursing program or even another school with the repeats in A&P. Any advice will be helpful Thanks

it kinda seems like your blaming the teacher a little bit why would she fail you again if you actually did well and pass the exam. and what nursing program are you trying to get into?

It depends: My school lets you take it up to three times. So maybe you should contact the school that you are trying to apply to and see what their protocol are.

Are you located in fl?

* I am blaming the teacher for the second time around because Numerous of students took her class got high scores on test and they still came out with a D. I tried taking it up with the dean but I didnt have much luck there. I am trying to get into the RN program.

This is an inspiration to you Lala--- I understand that you have taken the A and P class twice, for reasons that you did not understand or maybe you had to much going in your life at the time. However, you decided to take it again, which shows perseverance. And still did not get the grade you felt you deserved. This happens. It happened to me to in taking College Algebra, and you know when I took it the third time, guess what....I got an A, not because I should have gotten an A, its because I looked at the class differently then when I took it the 1st, 2nd time around. I studied differently, I basically remapped out a plan of what I was going to do to try to excel at the class. And furthermore, I prayed and sought God for help, and he help in each and every situation.

So I am leaving this with you, I am in the same boat that you are in as far as getting accepted to a Nursing Program(with all the school's ever changing requirements). And it's hard even with a 3.4 GPA. I recently got denied, based on receiving a D, but when retaken I got a B and they still denied me. Is it fair, No!!! Do I like it? NO. Did I feel a sense of rejection? Yes!!!! Will, I continue? Yes. Do I hope I get in the next go around? Yes, because I deserve the opportunity to help put the care back into health care. I wish you the very best. Additionally, keep in touch. And continue to walk with your head to the sky. God Bless!!!

No, I am in NV.

At my school, you get a max of 3 tries. You need to try a different professor. You also need to research your professors and take the one with the easiest ratings. If you fail a 3rd time doing this, you probably just don't have what it takes to make it through nursing and need to pursue something else as a major.

I got a C in A&P pt 1 and repeated A&P pt 2, twice and I repeated Microbiology twice. I got accepted into a nursing program last month. My advice to you is to not give up on your dream. There is a nursing program out there that will accept you. You need to pass these pre-reqs. Do everything possible to pass. How I passed was by studying little by little everynight. I typed my own outlines of the chapters. I took a lot of notes and recorded the lectures. I did all my hw and I never took the same professor twice. I saw it like this. If i didn't pass the first time with that professor then I won't pass the second time with him/her. I paired up with people who knew what they were doing in class. But I also spent a lot of time at home reading the book and studying. It was not easy, it was very hard sleepness nights. But i did it and you can too! Good luck!!!

Congratulations on getting accepted! Do you mind sharing which program you got into?

Thanks Needtobe! I got accepted into the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. It is an accelerated bsn program because I have my bachelors in psychology. I'll be getting my bachelors in nursing in 15 months.
