did anybody have to take remedial ?classes ill have to take it in math .. just wanted to see was i alone.
You're not alone...
I had to take 2 pre college level math classes.. I was down and upset about it.. BUT.. It was for the best.. I aced those classes! Plus I was nice and fresh with the knowledge when I finally got into Intermediate Algebra.
lol i really was upset because my act score in math was low which is my worst ,weak subject .. hopefully taking it will help with college level math.. i just hate you get no credit & it throws you back a little
Yes that part sucks too.. those credits basically mean nothing... But ultimately for you... It will mean a lot when you feel more confident with math and get those A's!!!
I tested very low in math on the Accuplacer. I am "homeschooling" myself in math and hoping to retest to a higher class. I chose this route because it killed me to pay so much money for a class that I wouldn't get credit for. If this doesn't work, I won't have a choice but to take the easier math classes.
Yes I had to take remedial math. I had been out of school for 20 years and the remedial math helped. By the time I made it to college algebra it had been a great refresher for me and I ended up with a B (89.34). The points were very frustrating because I was so close to an A. It took me a while to get through it but I found it very helpful. I'm getting ready to take statistics which is a prereq for the ASN-BSN program I hope to apply to after I complete the ASN program I was just accepted to. I don't think I would have made it through without the remedial math because it had been so long since I had taken it.

Yes, spent the last 2 semesters in Algebra I and Intermediate Algebra. I am taking college algebra over the summer. The good thing is, it all came back to me and it really wasn't hard. I had a 96% in Algebra I and a 100% in intermediate algebra. It is a lot of work but the instructors wanted us to succeed so they worked with us pretty well.
I had a horrible history with math from algebra I and on... until I reached college. I took algebra I and II/trig twice each in junior high and high school because I just didn't get it. I took the accuplacer when I started at a technical college and was placed in college algebra again. After three years of barely thinking of math it was a rocky start until I realized that Ihad to attend the lectures and had to utilize the instructor's office hours for any questions I had. My school also has an academic support center for tutoring and general help on assignments, which really helps as well. I ended up getting a B in that course and an A- in stats in a couple years later.
