Relocation??

Hello,

I am hoping that someone can give me some insite. I am currently living in PA, married, 2 kids and attending nursing school. After I graduate DH and I are SERIOUSLY considering moving to NC. We are tired of the climate here, the crime, the nothing to do ever. I have been researching NC and have looked at some threads on here. I have a few main concerns/questions.

What area would you recommend based on cost of living, employment, schools, low crime, nice neighborhood? We have had strong thoughts on Raleigh but are there better parts then others?

What is the cost of living like there? Here we bought a house here for 74K it is 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, decent yard, older house built in the 50's, needs updated. You can buy a nice updated home for around 180's here.

It seems there are alot of different school districts in the area. Are they all equally good?

Are there alot of things to do? There is nothing here! I hear Raleigh is 2 hours from the beach.....ah.....I would be in heaven!

And finally, do you know if hospitals around there are willing to pay off school loans, offer relocation packages, and hire new grads into specialized positions (I want to be in L&D)?

Thank you for your help! Hopefully we will soon be neighbors!

Hello is any one out there? It's ok if you can't answer all my ?'s I would just like some info. Thanks!

i live in union county, nc- monroe. i like the schools here and i live out in the country with the chicken farms and cows. i am 15 minutes from charlotte and lots of people move to our county versus charlotte- mecklenburg county- due to the much lower taxes we have. as far as cost of living- i think we are at an average here- no more than anywhere else. we are also only 2.5 hours to nc or sc beaches and 3-3.5 hours from the mountains of nc. good luck with your decision on where to move to!

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest checking out some of the other threads on here that have "relocation," or "moving to NC," or "coming to NC" in the title, I think you'll find most of your questions answered there in great detail. In fact, I think there is a sticky note at the top of the page called "So you wanna visit North Carolina" (or something similar) that discusses this too.

Good Luck!!
