Hi,
Please I need some advice and information. I am starting nursing school in Maryland in January. However because of cost of living (I have two young kids as well) I am thinking of relocating to Texas,Dallas specifically next summer. I have a friend in Dallas that's why I am considering Dallas.
I have the following questions:
1. In Maryland, after your first semester in Nursing school, on completion of fundamentals of nursing you can apply for a CNA license;would I be able to get a CNA licence from the Texas BON?
2. Can I transfer into the nursing program from Maryland without losing a semester. I noticed El Centro is the only ADN program in Dallas.
Thank you all for your response

I, personally, would finish nursing school in Maryland before moving to the Dallas area. Schools in the DFW area are fiercely competitive for admission purposes.
The Texas BON does not deal with CNA certification; rather, they only deal with licensure for LVNs and RNs. The Texas Department of Aging and Disability (DADS) has a CNA registry that handles the certification of CNAs. Click on the following link to get to the webpage for the CNA registry: Nurse Aide Registry.
There are multiple nursing programs in the Dallas area that are within a few miles of the city of Dallas.
1. Brookhaven College
2. Trinity Valley Community College
3. Collin County Community College
4. Tarrant County College
5. Texas Women's University
6. University of Texas at Arlington
7. Texas Christian University
8. Southwestern Adventist University
9. North Central Texas College
10. Weatherford College
11. Hill College
12. Navarro College
