Relocating

Published

 Hi All... I am an RN (ADN) working on BSN, considering relocating to Az /Phoenix area. I have 6 years of home health experience, 3yrs hospice and ventilator certification and 1 year supervisory experience as a RN Clinical Supervisor in Home Health. I am wondering about salaries, cost of living, housing pricess and any insight you could provide. I live in WI now and am SICK of the cold and snow  but cost of living is cheap! I have also looked into Tucson, Gilbert, and Lake Havasu but don't know enough about the areas to make an informed decision...can anyone help? I do not have any hospital experience with exception of my 120 hrs of internship...

Thanks

I currently live in Tucson, contact me offlist at [email protected] and I will be glad to help you out with this area.

I will tell you that COL is gradually increasing, however both Phoenix and Tucson have been hit hard with foreclosures, so there are a glut of houses available.

Good luck.

Jenna

Your from WI and a Chicago Bear fan!! Shame on you!:)

I'm just kidding. I'm from Wi also, took a travel assignment in TX told someone that I didn't drink beer and not a Packers fan. His response was "Oh your the one!" :)

Seriously considering moving to AZ also for the same reason as you plus my husband suffers from RA and hoping it will help. Got a job offer yesterday. Now I have to worry about getting a house.....doing something with this house and my dogs. (dogs coming with so I have to get a house)

Me too... have two dogs... open house today trying to sell.... where are you moving?

Sorry took so long to reply. I'm moving to Sun City. How is the house selling going? We decided to rent our house

No bites on the house... may end up renting it out too. Had a great interview , three actually for a company in Chandler. They want me to go out for an interview but it will be out of my own pocket. If I can line up some other possibilities I may do that. I hear it's nice in Sun City.

Sun City is nice but it's where mostly elderly folks live. If you want to do geriatrics - you're in luck. Do some searches on the Phoenix metropolitan area. Like the earlier poster said, there's a housing glut so finding a house to buy or rent won't be a problem - even with dogs.

Jobs may be your biggest issue. Take the interview if you get one - even pay for the trip yourself. It will benefit you to come see the place. You will love the area this time of year. Temps are in the 70's and gorgeous. Bring your swim suit and sunscreen. You'll want to soak up some rays while you're here.
