Relocating

I am going to graduate nursing school soon and I am thinking of relocating to the US. I was wondering if anyone knows of any recruiting companies I could get in touch with? I am looking for a signing bonus....Also if anyone has any advice or good areas to move to?

Currently looking at a few years to go though the process, does not have to be with an agency even for signing bonus, many have gone direct and received or will receive signing on bonus. You need to decide on which state you want to live in and research what is required by the board of nursing. Also will find it a bit easier already gone through the licensure process and passed NCLEX. Be aware though many hospitals currently are delaying taking on foreign nurses due to retrogression

I also think you need to research the many threads on here regarding making up hours & the process you have to go through.

In truth right now is seriously not a good time as currently there is retrogression (plenty of threads on that too - just do a search.) Current processing is for July 2005 completed paperwork -or is it May now? I've got lost!! It's summer 2005 anyhow!!

If you started the process now it would take around 8 months to a year to get all your paperwork ready, including passing your N-CLEX & getting your VisaScreen. That would mean you'd be filing sometime in 2009 roughly. At current rates it would be 3-4 years from now (if you started straight away) before you got to the USA.

That's assuming you have enough hours in paediatrics, maternity & psychiatry - some courses in the UK don't have. Otherwise you have to add time (& expenses) of getting those hours made up.
