Relocating to Seattle

Hello All!

I will be relocating from Florida to Washington state, specifically Seattle. I'm planning to be in Seattle at the beginning of November 2018. I'm looking for a permanent operating room position as an RN. Any recommendations on hospitals in the Seattle area?

I am also curious about how early to start applying for positions. It's currently June and I see plenty of positions open, I just think it might be TOO early? What do you think?

It should be noted that I applied for my license back in April, I had to send my fingerprints in twice due to them not being able to read them. Right now I have a temporary license until the fingerprints go through, which hopefully will be soon.

Any other advice is greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on your move to Seattle! I'm envious. I lived there for fourteen years and loved it! I'd love to go back. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I don't know anything about working in the OR, however the UW Medical Center was a great place to work. The union was strong and the contracts were very good. They've probably been renegotiated a few times since I left, but I haven't had as great a contract since I left! I've also heard Harborview is a good place to work, and if your hope is to experience surgical trauma, that's where they go. Swedish had a good reputation, but I turned down a job there because of the all-white dress code. I don't know if things have changed. In terms of commuting -- UWMC isn't in the middle of downtown, so it was easier, I thought.

Good luck!

I currently work at UWMC in the OR. Great place to work and the management knows what they are doing. Great place to work compared to Swedish.
